Electronic medical records

Currently, 900 Nova Scotia physicians are using an electronic medical record (EMR), a practice-based computer application that enables longitudinal collection of patient information.

Recommended EMR solutions

Doctors Nova Scotia recommends physicians select one of the three recommended EMR solutions that benefit from the Department of Health and Wellness e-Results interfaces with laboratories and diagnostic-imaging centres. The recommended EMR solutions are:

Note: Other EMRs may be eligible for current Master Agreement funding, but won't receive lab or diagnostic imaging results electronically. Contact an EMR advisor for more information.

Update: QHR Accuro to get e-Results in NS

QHR Accuro is the latest EMR solution in the province to be granted access to e-Results. Planning and implementation activities are underway for the new interface. Availability dates will be posted when confirmed. Nightingale-on-Demand and Practimax have had access to e-Results in Nova Scotia since 2008.

This development honours the DHW’s commitment to continue e-Results support for the early adopter physicians who have been using QHR Clinicare, the predecessor to QHR Accuro.

The QHR Accuro solution also qualifies for EMR Master Agreement funding along with Nightingale-on-Demand and Practimax.
