Membership category change requirements
Do you wish to change to a:
- Full member
This is most common for residents who are currently Doctors Nova Scotia members beginning their full practice or members returning from leave. Full membership dues are pro-rated on a quarterly basis. Physicians joining Doctors Nova Scotia part way through the association’s fiscal year are asked to contact the association for the amount owing.
For current Doctors Nova Scotia student members beginning their residencies in Nova Scotia.
- Member-on-leave/Special consideration
For members taking time from their practice for parental leave, continuing medical education, or for disciplinary reasons.
- Retired member
To qualify for retired membership status, a physician must retire his/her licence. The College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia must confirm your licence status to process this change.
- Non-resident member
Members must either cancel their medical licence in Nova Scotia or change to a non-resident licence status and live outside of Nova Scotia to be considered a non-resident member.
