Receipts for membership dues paid in full are issued at the beginning of the month in which the payment is received. For example, if dues are paid in April, the receipt would be issued at the beginning of May.
Receipts for monthly payment of membership dues are issued in January, and include all payments made from January to December.
Health and dental plan receipts
Receipts for Doctors Nova Scotia Extended Health and Dental Plan premiums are issued upon full payment at the beginning of the month following that in which the payment was received. (For example, if dues are paid in April, the receipt would be issues at the beginning of May.) The receipts are for the tax year in which they are paid.
Receipts for monthly payment of premiums are issued in January, and include all payments made from January to December.
T4s are issued in February. A T4 represents the honoraria paid to members who sit on committees as per the Honoraria & Expense Policy.
T4As are issued to members who receive physician liability insurance rebates and/or parental leave benefits.
In accordance with Canada Revenue Agency guidelines, T4As aren't issued to members who receive rebates of $500 or less or to members who have registered their incorporations with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia on or before Dec. 31 of the taxation year.
T3s are issued to members who participate in the Doctors Nova Scotia Extended Health and Dental Plan. The amount on the T3 represents the amount paid to Great West Life by Doctors Nova Scotia but doesn't include the premium that members are invoiced for each year.
A letter from Doctors Nova Scotia indicating the total amount paid on the member’s behalf for the plan is also included with this package. This amount includes both the T3 amount and the premium the member pays.
In accordance with CRA guidelines, T3s are not issued for amounts of $100 or less.
