The following are fee* examples for doctors’ services as of April 1, 2010.
Office visit - $29.64
A regular visit to a family doctor for examination and treatment of a problem.
($37.29 for patients 65 years and older)
Follow-up visit with a specialist - $30.78
(For office visits with patients under 65 years)
Follow-up visit with a specialist - $37.62
(For office visits with patients over 65 years)
Follow-up visit with a specialist - $34.20
(For hospital visits)
Removal of appendix - $399.00**
Includes admission and hospital visits for up to two calendar days immediately prior to and including the day of surgery***,
the operation and care after the operation for up to 14 days**** in hospital.
Total replacement of one hip - $681.72**
Includes admission and hospital visits for up to two calendar days immediately prior to and including the day of surgery***,
the operation and care after the operation for up to 14 days**** in hospital.
Broken wrist - $171.00**
Common wrist fracture where surgery is needed, for example, to “pin” the wrist. This includes 42 days of follow-up care, as
well as applying and removing casts or traction.
Double coronary artery bypass surgery to relieve heart problems - $1,368.00**
Includes admission and hospital visits for up to two calendar days immediately prior to and including the day of surgery***,
the operation and care after the operation for up to 14 days**** in hospital.
* Fee is the amount paid to a doctor for the service.
** This fee only represents payment to the surgeon. It doesn't include payment to other physicians if required, or
hospital costs.
