Cyclists to tour Maritimes
for pancreatic cancer research
Twenty-five cyclists will tour the Maritime provinces this summer as a fundraiser for pancreatic cancer research.
Billed as the Maritime Bike Tour, the event is part of Craig’s Cause, named for Craig Condon, a New Glasgow, NS, native who died of pancreatic cancer at 63.
The bike tour will begin July 28 at the QEII Health Sciences Centre in Halifax and return to the city on Aug. 2 as part of the Natal Day parade.
The relay-style bike tour will see cyclists teamed up to bike approximately 100 km each day. Each team will be accompanied by a support vehicle.
Each team of cyclists will participate in media events at hospitals along the way. Representatives from the Craig's Cause Pancreatic Cancer Society will
promote pancreatic cancer awareness research.
Jerseys, accommodations and meals will be organized and supplied to cyclists by the Craig's Cause Pancreatic Cancer Society.
Each cyclist must fundraise $2,500. All of the money raised will go to the Pancreatic Cancer Research Fund, which is presently supporting the Atlantic
Provinces Pancreatic Cancer Registry. Read about the research proposal, the lead researcher
