Our Partners

Doctors Nova Scotia recognizes the power in partnerships. By combining the passion and expertise of multiple organizations the success of creating a healthier population in Nova Scotia is more achievable.

The following are the current partners of Doctors Nova Scotia.

Sport Nova Scotia
Doctors Nova Scotia formed a partnership with Sport Nova Scotia in 2001 to encourage physical activity as a means of improved health for Nova Scotians. Doctors Nova Scotia supports many of Sport Nova Scotia’s programs and jointly provides physicians and the public with brochures around health through sport (PDF) and injury prevention (PDF).

Nova Scotia School Athletic Federation
Doctors Nova Scotia is a sponsor of the Nova Scotia School Athletic Federation, an organization primarily responsible for junior high and high school sport in the province. The NSSAF supported 41,000 student athletes in 19 sports at 184 schools during the 2008-09 academic year.

Scotiabank Blue Nose Marathon
Doctors Nova Scotia sponsored the Youth Run portion of this exciting running event for the seventh consecutive year. The 2010 Youth Run was the biggest one yet with almost 3,000 kids, many of whom were celebrating having completed a virtual marathon as part of the Doctors Nova Scotia Youth Running for Fun program. Check out the video of the event.

Cape Breton Fiddlers Run
Doctors Nova Scotia has sponsored the Cape Breton Fiddlers Run Youth Run since 2005. The 2010 run, held in Sydney under the shadow of the world’s largest fiddle, welcomed a record number of participants. More than 1,000 Youth Running for Fun participants took part and ran either 2.1 or 4.2 kilometers as a finale to the running program.

Taste of Gold
Doctors Nova Scotia was presenting sponsor of Halifax’s first Taste of Gold event, in November 2008, designed to raise funds for Nova Scotia children and athletes alike. Proceeds from the event will provide direct financial assistance to training groups for athletes and coaches in Nova Scotia’s most prominent performance sports including canoeing, sailing and athletics. KidSport, a program of Sport Nova Scotia, will also receive funding. All proceeds will stay in Nova Scotia to support local athletes.
